Cassie Etienne was born in Boston, but grew up in Avon, MA. She is going into her 11th year at Boston Green Academy, and also working as a cashier at Star Market. She keeps busy during the semester with classes and work, and remains active on and off campus including her previous involvement with a program at MIT called Minds Matter where she was able to participate in tutoring and classes for ACT/ SAT prep.
Cassie has been on two Quest service trips, one to the Dominican Republic in 2015 and most recently to Spain in 2016. Her first trip to the DR reframed her perspective, making her feel more grateful for the things she has and people she knows and holds dear. On her second trip to Spain, she felt more prepared, maneuvering fundraising and preparation with more ease, but she loved the experience for the opportunity to get in touch with nature and history in Salamanca. She is excited for the prospect of another Quest trip in the future. Her participation in the alumni board mirrors Cassie’s enthusiasm for the service experiences. She wants to give other schools access to have the experience she had, recognizing that travel is not just about sight seeing, but about making a connection and learning.
