Luis-Sanchez-1

Louis Sanchez

Louis, a son of two Puerto Rican parents, traveled back to his home country, Puerto Rico, and participated in a Quest service project with his Boston Green Academy team in April. Louis had previously attended middle school in Puerto Rico before transferring to Boston Green Academy in 9th grade. He was deeply excited to revisit not only the land but also his loved ones who currently reside there. Louis profoundly appreciated his aunts, uncles, and cousins who gathered to meet with and embrace him multiple times throughout the trip. In addition, meeting local Puerto Rican students from Nuestra Escuela, a non-traditional school aimed to empower students through mental health and healing, had an enormous impact on Louis. Staying and working side by side with these students in the cleanup project forced him to deeply connect not only with people he had never met but also with himself. In reflection circles, he embraced his vulnerability and opened up to complete strangers. Along the way, he developed long-lasting, true friendships with these students from Nuestra Escuela. He still keeps in frequent contact with many of them today and even has plans to return to Puerto Rico to spend time at Nuestra Escuela.

Louis returned to Boston with a newfound love and willingness to embrace new people, challenges, and opportunities. He looks forward to one day returning to Puerto Rico as a successful man so that he can further serve his community back home.

Our Last Month Newsletter

As Quest Adventures gears up for the fall, we would like to share the stories of our successful 2019 school service teams. Our students participated in community building and support in Boston as well as in North Carolina, Louisiana and the Dominican Republic last year. The teams focused on restoration, whether it was reforestation, home improvement projects or a sense of hope and pride in the people they served and ultimately themselves.Read More....

Quest Kicks off service program at Pinnacle Leadership Center  Kensington, NH

Quest staff initiated our 2019-2020 service-learning program, inviting our new teams of students and teachers to travel to Pinnacle Leadership Center for a full day of team building, problem-solving, and leadership development, both on the field and on the high aerials course.  Despite chilly, damp weather, the students pushed beyond their comfort zones and came together as teams.

We loved observing our students learn to:

·       communicate respectfully and depend on each other during challenges

·       work through personal fears and persevere on wet, slippery ropes

·       support and learn to trust each other on the aerials

·       step up to be leaders and encourage teammates

We are excited to witness continued growth as the teams work together to build leadership and fundraising skills for successful service trips this spring.

Quest Adventures is a 501c3 non-profit organization that supports people both locally, nationally and worldwide.
